The School

Vidya Prasarak Mandal’s B. R. Tol English High School is a premier English medium school affiliated to the C. B. S. E. Located in Mulund East, a leading suburb of Mumbai, India, the school is a member of the VPM family of educational institutions. Established in 1972, the institutioncontinued the tradition of dedicated service to the community that characterized the earlier VPM institutions. The Kannada linguistic minority charitable educational institution, Vidya Prasarak Mandal(orVPM as it is affectionately and popularly called), was launched in 1957. Beginning with only three studentsin its first school (the Kannada Balwadi/Kannada Primary School, 1957), it rapidlygrew from its humble beginnings tobecome the leading provider of quality education in the central suburbs of Mumbai.The Kannada High School followed in 1962. Then, the English Pre-Primary School came up in 1972 followed by B. R. Tol English High School in 1977. Smt. Vanaja Sunder Shetty Memorial Junior College was inaugurated in 1991. The Institute for Professional Studies next came up in 1997 and then the Center for Inter-National Studies in the same year. The Center for the National Institute for Open Schooling was opened in 2000. Three years later, in 2003, the R. Z. College Of Arts, Science and Commerce was established. This was followed by the National Integration School(I. C. S. E.) in Airoli, Navi Mumbai.Now catering to all segments of society, the VPM institutions are as well-known for the single-minded pursuit of excellence as for the range of educational services available.

So a child entering the stream of education today has a choice of media(English, Marathi, and Kannada) and a choice of Boards(C. B. S. E. and I. C. S. E.). He can join in as a toddler at the Nursery/Balwadi, work his way through school, hop on to the Junior College, advance on to theDegree College and finish with a post-graduate course – KG to PG under one roof!
